Queen Symphonic SpectacularBook Tickets

With over 300 million albums sold worldwide, Queen are one of a select few truly iconic British bands that can claim to be a supergroup. With over four decades of music and 18 number one albums to their names, they are recognized as one of the most influential rock bands of all times.

2008 sees the launch of a new concert celebrating the music of Queen, which will give fans the opportunity of hearing these classic songs as never before. The Music Of Queen – A Rock & Symphonic Spectacular, features full rock band and stars from the West End smash hit musical We Will Rock You, combined with a 60-piece symphony orchestra, performing epic arrangements of Queen’s music.

“Stunning” and “awesome” are just two of the words which have been used to describe this concert experience and composer Richard Sidwell has done an incredible job in expanding original Queen arrangements into a completely new symphonic score.

With over seventy performers on stage this has to be one of the biggest rock shows on earth, featuring all of Queen’s classic hits including A kind of Magic, Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio Ga Ga, We Are The Champions, Somebody To Love, Who Wants To Live Forever, Killer Queen, Don’t Stop Me now, Fat Bottomed Girls, I Want It All, and many more.

The concert at Calke Abbey will climax with a stunning fireworks finale. Don’t miss this unique event!

“Spectacular Spitfire display and fabulous fireworks finale”

It’s time to pack the hamper and chill the champagne - Jae Alexander is back with the English National Orchestra at Calke Abbey to lead the audience through a superb programme of popular classics, film themes and all the firm favourites associated with “Last Night Of The Proms”. The concert begins with a dramatic aerial display by an original WW2 Spitfire, whilst the orchestra performs the rousing Dambusters March and 633 Squadron. Tenor Wynne Evans and soprano Janet Mooney take centre stage to perform some of the best-loved songs and arias ever composed. As ever, the evening ends with a show - stopping fireworks finale to accompany the flag-waving frenzy of Rule Britannia and Land of Hope & Glory. If you’ve never been to an open air concert you’re in for a treat! If you’re already a regular at Calke you’ll know what a great evening it is - so be sure to book your tickets early as this year’s concert promises to be the 'must see' event in the region!
